Alzheimer’s is an incredibly serious disease, one that affects millions of people in the United States alone, as well as millions more around the rest of the world. There is no cure for Alzheimer’s yet, but fortunately there are several Alzheimer’s drug treatment options that are, and which can be used to help with the symptoms of the disease.
The Options
As a person suffering from Alzheimer’s, or someone who is caring for them, it is important to be aware of what the different Alzheimer’s drug treatment options are before deciding on any particular one.
One Alzheimer’s drug treatment is Cognex, which although is used, is only used in certain situations because it is associated with so many side effects. Often the side effects outweigh the pros of taking this Alzheimer’s drug treatment which is why it is so rarely used.
One of the more commonly used Alzheimer’s drug treatment is Exelon. This is a drug that is used to ease the symptoms of early Alzheimer’s, and which helps by improving or slowing the decline in thinking skills and helping the person to perform general day to day duties. Everything from dressing, eating, and getting the mail, this drug will ensure that they can do it to the best of their ability and in a way really fights the disease for the time being.
This drug has already proven to be effective for millions of Alzheimer’s sufferers around the world, and continues to be prescribed in most cases. To start the doctor usually recommends that the patient take 1.5 mg twice a day, and they may decide to increase that dose every two weeks, depending on the seriousness of the disease and how advanced it is.
You will see as the disease progresses that the person is becoming more and more dependent, and most Alzheimer’s patients end up having to go into an Alzheimer treatment center. This is where there are professionals readily available around the clock who are going to be there to care for them and make sure that if anything happens, they are going to get the right, immediate medical care.
Everyone is different and so in terms of drug treatment, this needs to be decided by the patient’s doctor. It often takes some trial and error to find one that works without a ton of unfavorable side effects that are just too difficult to live with and not helping as much as it could.
