Not much is known about Alzheimer’s disease and why it strikes at all. What is known is how it affects the people who are diagnosed with it. The person affected loses his or her memory to the point that they soon don’t recognize anyone in their family, their friends or anyone else in their life. They forget how to do typical things like pulling up their pants or tying their shoes, they forget how to drive and they may even forget how to get to their own house. Sometimes, people turn violent and in the end the person just becomes an empty shell. Still, there is no cure for this horrible disease. Research is still ongoing, however, and scientists and researchers hope to come up with future treatments for Alzheimer’s disease so that someday the people affected can either be cured or go on to live healthy, normal lives.
Your Loved Ones
If your loved one has Alzheimer’s disease or is beginning to show symptoms and you fear that they may have it, it’s time to do some research on your own. Hopefully, that person has been to a doctor where they have been put through tests to determine whether or not they have the disease. If they do have it, the doctor may be able to recommend some future treatments for Alzheimer’s that are still in the testing phase. Doctors will sometimes do this to help out with research. The idea is to make the subject a guinea pig to determine if they are helped by this treatment or not. If not, no harm, no foul. It’s not likely that the future treatment for Alzheimer’s disease will harm them. If it helps, that’s great and the results will help doctors and researchers develop more treatments that will help even more people. Some of these treatments are natural Alzheimer’s treatments that come from things found in nature, while others are pharmaceutical based.
Funding
One thing’s for sure, the more funding researchers get, the more future treatments for Alzheimer’s they can come up with. So if you can help at all, give all you can. Search the web for foundations that you can send donations to. You can even collect funds from your community to give. The more you give, the more future treatments for Alzheimer’s will be developed and soon we may be able to find a cure for this horrible disease.
