How to Set up an eBay Store by John S. Rhodes

If you want to open up an eBay store, the first consideration is that there are certain criteria that you have to meet in order to be accepted. Firstly, you need to be able to open a seller's account on eBay, which involves providing a credit card or debit card, or going through ID verification. Once you have done this, you can open an eBay store. If you have not gone through verification, you will need to have a feedback of 20 or more, or have a PayPal account in good standing. With these formalities, you are ready to open your eBay store.

An eBay store is set up by people who have experience of selling on eBay, and want to increase their sales. It is not really for newcomers to eBay. eBay sellers set up a store to take advantage of lower listing fees. To do this, you have to pay monthly fees, therefore it is not worth setting up an eBay store unless you expect to be doing a reasonable volume of sales. eBay stores are for sellers looking to build a long term business, and they allow you to design your own logo, and create the overall design for your eBay presence. This gives you the opportunity to brand your business on a site which is already getting a huge amount of traffic. The benefits here in terms of being able to cross promote your products are enormous.

Once you have an eBay store set up, you can list your items in three different ways. Auction style listings are the same type of listing that you will use most often in an ordinary eBay business, and fixed price listings will also be familiar from the 'Buy It Now' buttons that you see on the site. The listings that the eBay store allows you to employ are called Store Inventory Listings. The insertion fees on this type of listing are lower than the other listings, which is one of the benefits of the eBay store. These listings can either be for a full thirty days, or they can even be Good 'Til Cancelled.

Once your eBay store is set up, you will need to do some promotions. The good news here is that eBay will reward you be refunding 75% of your final value fees when you bring in traffic from outside of eBay. Promote your new store well, and you could build a long term profitable business.
