Women are much better at matching colors than men. That is not a mystery and even men acknowledge it. Whether it is something genetic, or a feminine trait developed over the years, the fact of the matter is that colors matter more to women than men.
That is also the reason why women are attracted to cosmetics, clothes, and shoes more than men, which is something that some men have trouble understanding. They think that the red shoes that we just bought are redundant because we already have a pair of red shoes at home. They don’t realize that the tone of red of these new shoes is very different from the one we have at home, and that makes a lot of difference on the attires we can match them with.
This is even more pronounced in nail polish colors. The brands with the biggest selections can have a whole catalog page with different shades of red. And because nail polish is relatively cheap and very commonly use, we end up having a collection of our favorite colors.
With time, these collections can grow very big. While some women just have a few, others buy several, often on a whim. While this is great for having choices at home without going to the manicurist, it can also make a bit of a mess if they’re not ordered properly.
What I did is get myself a nail polish organizer. A nail polish organizer is a small piece of plastic or other material where you put your nail polish bottles. It is very convenient. The one I got has a handle, so I can keep it in my closet it, but take it to the bathroom or the bedroom when I need it.
While I guess that pretty much any container can be a nail polish organizer, for example, an old shoe box, I really recommend getting one from one of the many brands that sell them, like Sally Hansen. Nail polish organizers from known brands look so much better and they are also designed to hold nail polish bottles in place.
If you have a lot of nail polish bottles, let’s say over 20, you can even buy two nail polish organizers. That way, you can classify them in colors or brands. Or make one of the nail polish organizers a traveling one.
I really recommend them. A nail polish organizer isn’t really expensive, and it will serve you for a long, long time. Next time you go to a beauty shop or a department store, ask to see their nail polish organizers. You’ll definitely walk out with one of them.
