No fluff talk no crap about my life and how long I have been in retail (10 years)
A few Q's before we get started:
1. When was the last time you shopped at your store?
2. When was the last time you walked or Really inspected your store?
3. What is your competition doing that you are not and no crap about price
If you take some time and shop at your store you get the feeling that your customers do. From the time you walk in all the way to your check out. I guess you can say you are in the next persons shoes. If you can not shop at your own store there is a very big problem. Do this and you will find the answers to many problems in your store that have been costing you money and sales.
Another thing you might consider is visiting your competition. There must be a reason why your customers are going there. Maybe the check out service is polite or they do not have to wait on line for long period of time. How about your floor staff ? Are they being nice ? People like nice. I know all this may sound stupid but its basics the simple things that bring you sales not price.
Example
One day I was working on the retail floor with a floor mgr and the owner happen to walk in. So me being a nobody at the time could careless who walked in I was just there for a paycheck. Anyway there was a huge display up as soon as you walked in to the store a real Eye grabber every person that walked in stopped at the display. To make a long story short the owner almost fired the mgr not because of the size of the display or the amount of product but because there was no sign on the display he felt he just lost a ton of money because of a piece of paper.
Go back to basics and shop your stores and in less than 30 days you will see the difference.
