The Te Araroa Trek is one of the most beautiful and iconic stretches of New Zealand landscape in the country. Going from one point of the coastline to the other, the trek stretches across three thousand kilometres, and is actually one of the longest trails in the world. So, if you're interested, we're going to go ahead and cover some of the frequently asked questions about the Te Araroa.
When Is It Opening?
The Te Araroa is going to be opening sometime in 2011. There are currently hundreds of volunteers working on getting this trail in order, making sure that it's safe and hikeable for whoever wants to trek it. It may take a little time to get there, but if you take a look at some pictures of the work in progress, you'll probably agree that all that time and effort will most certainly be well worth it.
Where Is It?
The New Zealand trek starts at Cape Reinga at the north point of the coast and finally ends at the Bluff in the south point. If you'd like to check it out, the official website features maps and photographs showing exactly where the trek is planned and how long until completion is expected.
How Can You Help Out?
There are a few ways you can help get this project finished up a little quicker. If you get a chance and can offer your help, you can go ahead and just show up as a volunteer and start helping. On the other hand, if you're too busy, you can always just donate to the cause of creating Te araroa one of the greatest treks in all of New Zealand.
How Can You Keep Informed?
The website actually has a newsletter, so if you want to keep track of how far the project is at present, how it's coming along, you can just sign up for the mailing list, simple as that.
