If it is in the early stage, an adrenalectomy will be able to cure it. Mostly, surgery can be carried out via laparoscope. The instrument used is usually a fiber-optic viewing tool which is inserted to a small incision. Small tumors can be removed using a scope. However, for complete removal, it needs larger incision.
Additional treatments
Instead of surgical solution, adrenal cancer can also be treated through chemotherapy. It is a cancer treatment which uses chemicals to kill the cancerous cells. This is a soothing treatment for the adrenal cancer, yet it cannot cure. It is highly required when the cancer has spread to another part of the body. It can work along with the surgery to remove tumor or just to shrink it for removal.
Another alternative is radiation therapy. It uses high frequency energy which is able to kill cancer cells. It is used similarly to chemotherapy. It is to relieve the symptoms of adrenal cancer in advanced stage. It is treated along with the surgery.
In addition, this cancer can also be treated using mitotane. It is drug which can be used for treating inoperable adrenal cancer. It is able to respond positively to cancer cells. It can help to reduce the spread of the cancer cells.
