Getting a new cat is exciting, especially when you consider that kitty potty training is one of the simplest things to teach. Why is kitty potty training so easy? Well, cat’s instinctively go to the bathroom in sand or loose dirt. When they’re finished, they use their paws to cover their mess up. This is to avoid leaving their scent behind. Not only does this keep predators away, but their prey also won’t be alerted to the cat’s presence. Cats are meat eaters and they must catch their food; at least when they’re in the wild. So they cover up their mess to avoid scaring off their dinner. This is good news for any cat owners who are dreading kitty potty training. Kitty potty training is as easy as sticking your cat in the litter box. That’s it. Once your cat knows where its litter is, it will go back to that spot again and again to do its business. This is much easier than trying to potty train a dog or any other animal. That makes cats one of the easiest pets to own and train.

Instinct is why kitty potty training is so easy. The cat’s normal inclination is to go in sand or dirt so you’re only recreating the same situation in your home. Your cat would rather go in its litter box than go on your nice rug or couch. That makes them much different than dogs. However, if your cat doesn’t seem to want to use the litter box and your kitty potty training isn’t going as easy as you though it would, there may be something wrong.

Your cat may not want to use the litter box and may not respond to your kitty potty training for several reasons. First, the litter box may not be big enough. Second, the kitty litter you’ve chosen for kitty potty training may be too scented. And third, the litter box may be in a noise area that scares the cat.

Some people claim to have been successful at kitty toilet training. That means they actually trained the cat to use the toilet. That seems a little out there, however. You don’t need to go to that kind of drastic measure to go about kitty potty training. You only need a litter box and to stick your cat in the box and you’re done. Your cat will use the box from then on.
