When you first get a cat, you must move to kitty litter training immediately so that your cat doesn’t get confused on where it’s supposed to go to the bathroom. Cat urine has a very strong and distinctive odor and it’s very hard to get out of the carpet and your furniture. That’s why it’s imperative that you conduct kitty litter training as soon as your cat touches the inside of your house. The good news is that kitty potty training is very easy. Anyone can do it and once it’s done, that’s usually all it takes for your cat to remain a good boy or girl so that you don’t continuously have to smell cat pee all day.
Litter and Litter Box
The only thing you need for kitty litter training is a cat box and some litter to go inside. As far as the cat box goes, it should be big enough for your cat to sit inside. It doesn’t have to be huge but it should be a little bigger than your cat. As far as the litter is concerned, it shouldn’t have too much perfume in it. You can get any type of litter but make sure your cat responds positively to it. Just watch your cat so you can determine how it responds to the litter you’ve chosen.
The location of your box is also important to kitty litter training. Make sure you choose a spot that’s sort of private and quiet. If you place your cat box next to a loud dryer or a loud air conditioning unit, your cat may avoid the box entirely and may think your expensive Persian rug looks more fitting for a bowel movement. So choose a spot you think your cat will enjoy.
Training Is Easy
Once you have your litter box and litter, and you’ve set it up in a spot that your cat finds comfortable, all you need to do is stick your cat inside the litter box. That’s it. Cats instinctively go in litter, or sand. You cat will respond to your kitty litter training by doing its business and then covering the mess up. Why do they do this? It’s thought that cats do this to cover up their scent so that predators don’t know they’re around and also so that their prey doesn’t know they’re in the area. It’s a cat thing but it makes kitty litter training very easy. That’s one of the great things about owning a cat.
