There has got to be some way under the sun or existing law, to get rid of an annoying, prevaricating, perjurous, condescending, pusillanimous, purse lipped Attorney General. Especially one who has single handedly brought down the Justice Department. Few if any, still have any faith in a Justice Department under Alberto “Fredo” Gonzales. Fredo is like a bad itch, that’s somewhere just below the surface, making it hard to scratch. My question, albeit a rhetorical one is, “If we can’t excuse him, shouldn’t we recuse him?”
Instead of resigning quick, fast and in a hurry and fading off the political scene, Mr. Gonzales has decided to stay on to help fix the problem. The only problem is, he’s the problem. For whatever the reason the obsequious Bush loyalist will not see the light. He might therefore see a jail cell if Congress should find him guilty of perjury, which they well might do based on his recent misinformation. Incredulously, he claims he didn’t visit his incapacitated predecessor John Ashcroft in the hospital to get his signature on a bill that would have renewed the right of the Bush White House to spy on Americans. According to Fredo, he was there on another matter altogether. There are documents in the Judiciary Committee’s possession which counter indicates what Mr. Gonzales testified to under oath. The various Committee members all but shouted LIAR to Fredo and he still doesn’t get.
Tony Snow the Bush apologist, declined to comment on the matter, under the guise that it was a national security issue and therefore classified. Congress has now sent a letter to the Solicitor General, asking that he appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate Alberto Gonzales. In any other administration to quote the late singer Marvin Gaye, Alberto Gonzales, “Wouldn’t be doggone, he’d be long gone.” When Republican stalwart Arlen Spector (R) of Pennsylvania is forced to all but call Gonzales a liar, you know it is bad. Bush is too gansta to be embarrassed and it’s a sure bet that if Gonzales should be found guilty of a crime like perjury, Bush will pardon him. As long as Fredo remains true to his oath of omerta (silence) Bush will have his back. This no doubt explains his smugness. He even offers a slight smile when being confronted by Senate Judiciary members who don’t believe a word he says. Fredo once claimed that all he had was his integrity. I don’t know how integrity is spelled in Spanish or what the Spanish definition of integrity is, but he fails to come close to the English definition by a mile.
It shouldn’t be Mr. Bush’s Justice Department, as it is now. The Justice Department rightfully belongs to the American people. It needs to be liberated from the likes of Alberto Gonzales, who embarrasses his Mexican heritage. Mexicans are honorable, proud people with a glorious heritage. A heritage that Mr. Gonzales dishonors.
