Tmd Relief

In the medical world you would find this Tinnitus and TMJ are often interconnected as tinnitus is one of the more regular symptoms a body providing TMJ may suffer from. The TMJ or tempero-mandibular joint is the jaw joint and is located just in front of your ears. It essentially connects the dropped moving side of your jaw in the base of your skull. The property of the joint is such that it is implemented to allow your jaw to move both up and down as well as part to side. Tmd Relief

When Things Go Wrong

There are several different problems that go wrong with your TMJ and tinnitus is only one of the side effects. You could have issues where your jaws do not meet properly resulting in an over or under bite where the lower jaw is pushed back into the area usually reserved for the ear canals. This can cause excessive pressure on the ear canals resulting in pain. Your body will naturally try to correct this problem by using the jaw muscles to correct the misalignment, unfortunately these muscles are not meant to be used in this way.

When your body tries to correct the misalignment in this fashion it results in muscle spasms not only in the jaw muscles, but in the ones surrounding them including the ones in the inner ear. This is where tinnitus and TMJ problems occur. As the muscles of the inner ear spasm it causes the ringing sounds that are associated with tinnitus. There are other symptoms of TMJ syndrome that may help to diagnose the problem so that it can be cured including painful facial muscles, headaches, having a hard time chewing, swallowing or yawning without feeling pain and possible swelling around this area of your face. Curing Your Tinnitus and TMJ Problems

Fortunately most doctors and dentists are fully aware of the connection between the two problems and have found that in all but the worst cases it is possible to cure the tinnitus caused by TMJ without the use of surgery. Most dentists will recommend that you be fitted with a special mouth guard or orthotic that is designed to help realign your jaw and take the pressure off of your ear muscles.

You will also find that there are a range of special exercises that you can do to strengthen your jaw muscles and help them to realign. Some doctors and dentist recommend the use of anti-inflammatories and muscles relaxers to help alleviate the symptoms of tinnitus and TMJ. Others opt for the latest in neuro-biofeedback treatments and acupuncture treatments, both of which have been used with a fair amount of success. Tmd Relief
