Too much calcium in the urine is medically known as hypercalciuria that could be prevented by regulating the amount of calcium in the diet.
2. Oxalate Intake. Oxalates are usually found in the intestines as with calcium. The presence of oxalates reduces calcium absorption while its formation is caused by the insufficient amount of calcium in the intestines. The excess number of oxalates will also be absorbed by the kidneys and too much this is known as hyperoxaluria.
There are many foods that contain large amounts of oxalate.Â EightÂ of these would be the major source for raising urine oxalate levels namely rhubarb, spinach, strawberries, chocolate, wheat bran, nuts, beets and tea. Other oxalate-rich foods would include beans, celery, fruit cake, egg plant, sweet potato, and wheat bran among others.
3. Minimize Sugar, Sodium, Animal Protein and Vitamin C. Too much sugar, sodium and animal protein intensify the production of calcium or calcium oxalate stones. Whereas, excessive vitamin C intake increases oxalate production.
