Since sleep is important, restful colors are used in bedrooms so that the rest can be obtained for eight hours each night rather than being stimulated by the more vivid color schemes. In family areas, meaning those areas where there will be conversation and group gatherings, the colors will be brighter and more vibrant. This is a selling point for the feng shui house because those colors create a sense of happiness and alertness that is conducive to the activities of those rooms.
