Unhealthy American Restaurants Pt. 2

Americans have a reputation for being a bunch of fatties driving around with their new Audi body parts and for good reason. Over two-thirds of the population is considered to be overweight or obese. What is the cause of this widespread phenomenon you ask? Well numerous reasons come to mind, but the most accurate answer can be found in what Americans shovel in their mouths everyday. And with all of the unhealthy restaurants out there, there are endless ways to get fat in America. If you’re a health conscious person then I suggest you avoid the all of the restaurants below.

Romano’s Macaroni Grill

This Italian restaurant has been a family favorite for years. Unfortunately it offers some of the unhealthiest meal selections in the country. Not one of the entrée items contains fewer than 800 calories and to make matters even worse, the vast majority of their menu items contain more than a full day’s worth of sodium (over 2,000 mg). And don’t think you’re being safe by sticking to a salad, as most of them contain over 600 calories. You can of course build your own healthy dish with whole wheat noodles and marinara sauce but I suggest you just cook it yourself at home.

Applebee’s, Outback and T.G.I. Friday’s

I put all of these restaurants together because you never really know what you’re getting. None of these restaurants offer nutritional information on their famous dishes. Of course they’re full of excuses (time-consuming, food is too fresh to accurately assess etc.), but I suggest avoiding the restaurants at all cost if you’re watching your weight and your health. As we’ve seen at previous restaurants, a simple salad can cost you over 600 calories.
