Almost everyone now owns a DVD player and collection of DVDs or blu-ray discs. A sign of how successful this pirticular form of technology has become with some DVDs making more money than the movie makes whilst being shown in the cinema.

The popularity of the DVD is based on several factors including its improvement in picture quality of the video cassette format along with its ability to provide added extras.
