I've put together a top 5 list of leveling tips that'll speed up the otherwise tedious and long leveling process in World of Warcraft.

Leveling Tip #1: Kill as you go!

As you quest your way through World of Warcraft, you'll have to travel long distances either by foot or on your mount. You'll likely come across a few monsters on your way to your destination, so kill them! It'll only add a couple of minutes to your travel time and the experience you gain by "killing as you go" adds up. There's also the minuscule chance of rare loot dropping.

Leveling Tip #2: Avoid distractions

It's important to avoid unnecessary distractions when leveling. If you're keen on leveling as quickly as possible, disregard any time-wasting guild commitments. Your guild leader won't kick you out of the guild for not attending a member's virtual birthday party!

Leveling Tip #3: Quest rewards are useful!

Never vendor quest rewards unless you're absolutely sure they're of no use to you. Quest reward items are sufficient enough for further leveling, so keep them and save your gold. Never buy from the auction house - the majority of pre-level 70 items are useless once you've progressed a few levels or so.

Leveling Tip #4: Save Mr. Nice Guy for later

If someone asks for help on a quest, don't feel committed to help them. Doing so can sometimes take hours out of your own game play and greatly slow down your leveling. There's a time for being nice, and that's at level 70.

Leveling Tip #5: Make the most of your travels

If a quest requires you to travel halfway across Azeroth to complete a quest, look up the area on Thottbot to see if the area offers any other easy and quick quests. Making the most of your time and planning a route will greatly improve your leveling.
