Its no mystery that green is the brightest color in the visible light spectrum. Green light is produced at a frequency of 532nm, when a laser is used to condense this light into a high output power and project the green laser beam, it is the brightest possible laser light frequency. This has made green laser pointers the most popular form of hand held laser technology available online and on the open market today.
Green lasers are known for producing some of the most powerful and brightest laser beams available anywhere. The versatility of the green laser crystal allows for a wide variety of both handheld green laser pointers as well as large dpss industrial laser modules. Green laser pointers have quickly over taken red lasers as the most useful and sold lasers throughout the globe.
But cheap 532nm green lasers have been flooding the laser market over the past several years, it seems hundreds of companies are trying to take a piece of the internet laser market with cheap green lasers. The outcome has lead to a plethora of poor quality green laser pointer that not many laser hobbyists are willing to buy. We usually find these cheap laser pens being sold as second hand items on ebay for $30 or less. More often than not, these green lasers end up burning out and even having the laser crystal crack, permanently damaging the green lasers function.
A high quality 532nm green laser beam should appear as a solid beam with little to no dispersion of the green beam. If the laser crystal has been properly collimated, a powerful hand held green laser is capable of blazing a green beam in propulsion of over 60 miles.
Green laser beams, despite being visually spectacular and highly useful in many professional fields, is also cause for extreme caution. If a 532 nm green laser were to directly shine into a persons eye, there is a possibility of laser retinal damage. In order to avoid any green laser eye damage, be sure to take proper safety measures. All green lasers should include standard safety features, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the user to be sure that all spectators and they themselves are safe.
James has been utilizing the 532nm green laser beam as his laser pointer of choice since their wide scale release. He has written extensively on green laser crystals and has designed various green laser accessories. His preferred laser provider, thinklasers.com, specializes in certified 532nm green lasers.
