The HP CP1215 is a simple, single-function laser printer that is ideal for small business work groups - an unobtrusive printer that ensures high quality color and black prints.
Design and Features
Colored with gray-and-white shades at the exterior, the HP CP1215 has a basic control panel on the side of the faceplate along with the buttons for troubleshooting and operation - the Ready light, the Resume button, the Paper Jam light, Cancel button, Attention light and diverse icons to indicate the toner levels along with the Paper Feed and Power buttons. The notification lights indicate various alerts to indicate the function that is being used, but the lack of a LCD screen to assist in troubleshooting or providing some important information is missing, which is a mjor drawback.
With 15.7 inches wide by 10 inches tall and approximately 20 inches deep, the HP CP1215 weighs around 39 pounds – its light for a laser printer. There is another reason for it to be light – it does not have an auto-duplexing feature or the networking hardware.
The power button is small and located on the left side whilst the power plug is located on the lower back. To access the paper and toner there are fold-out drawers in the front. The output tray is located at the top, the bottom section has the toner drawer and the input tray- it holds up to 150 sheets of plain paper and prints around 1000 pages in a month.
A USB-only printer, there is no other connectivity features available for the printer, which is disappointing, while installing the driver and connecting the printer to the network is hassle-free. Since, there are no connectivity options at present - the printer needs to be connected to a system for networking. All basic instructions are easy to understand and self-explanatory, simple and easy to install, while the driver runs automatically for assistance. With a fixed 600X600dpi resolution for both black and color, the HP CP1215 comes with the HP CP1215 toner cartridges. There are drivers for the Windows operating systems, but not the Mac, which is disappointing. The HP CP1215 is the ideal printer for smaller offices with lesser printing tasks.
