The HP Photosmart C4798 is an all in one inkjet printer, which is designed to perform scanning, printing, and copying. Unlike other printers, it prints only wallet sized 4x6 dimensioned photos. If the user needs portrait-sized prints, it is recommendable to go for HP Photosmart C4798. However, both the printers make use of HP 300XL ink cartridge, and produce fine quality prints.
Is PC Required During Printing?
Installing the HP Photosmart C4798 is very easy; this printer comes with a user manual and colorful setup poster. Mainly, the user manual gives information about how to print photos without using a PC i.e. printing directly from the memory card of the printer.
But, to get the benefits of printing via PC and integrated image-editing and management software, one should know how to connect the printer to system through a USB port. If one doesn't want to use PC in printing operation, detachable media source like Secure Digital Multimedia, SmartMedia cards, CompactFlash, and Memory Sticks can get the job done.
All that the user needs to do is to insert the card in any one slot at printer's front side, keep special photo paper into the small input tray, and make use of easy-to-navigate LCD panel of HP Photosmart C4798 for printing.
The control flow and layout of LCD follow the same example similar to monitor menu or digital camera. For instance, all the icons are organized in semicircle form and show print card status and photo size paper, and quantity of paper copies. By using navigation button, these icon categories and minus and plus buttons can be controlled.
