What You Should Know - Alzheimer's Information by Ivan Hince

The aim of this article is to help you understand what Alzheimer’s information there is and how the disease was named after a German Psychiatrist in the early part of the twentieth century.

This German Psychiatrist bought it to the world’s attention by monitoring a case of a 50 year old woman who was suffering from dementia, and later after her death he published his findings. Since that case the world continued to use the term Alzheimer’s after the work he had done.

Since Alzheimer’s happens to people between the age of 45 and 60 it has this special name, yet after 60 the disease is normally put down as senile dementia.

Short term memory loss is usually the first sign where the patient can’t remember things that are normally so easy for a normal person. Things like not being able to make quick decisions or being able to remember name of their partner or their children can often lead to confusion which leads to being bad tempered or frustrated.

As the disease takes hold the patient will loose the ability to perform normal functions like getting dressed or using the toilet, and even things like eating and walking can be a real handicap.

The main cause of this condition is through the malfunction of the brain and it is said that there is a build up of a plaque called beta amyloid which can only be seen during an autopsy.

Certain drugs are available from the Doctors which will help the symptoms, but they are never able to cure whatever it is that sets it off in the first place. It’s one of those things that the Doctor’s just don’t know as to why it happens in the first place.

There is a lot of Alzheimer’s information on the Internet although I have to say that a lot of it is highly technical and hard to understand, but on saying that there are some very good ones. But getting away from the negative side of things a Doctor from the United States has had a lot of good results in helping sufferers through a drastic change of diet. Please note that I am not a Doctor or anything to do with the medical profession so patients or rather their loved ones would have look into this side of things for themselves.
