Times Have Changed For School Aged Kids by Alice Lane

It wasn't so long ago that you used to carry your books with you back and forth from school to home if you had homework. It was a great opportunity to show that chivalry was not dead yet. Carrying a girl's books was often one of the first steps with flirting. Those days are long gone. For one, a lot of schools don't have lockers in which to put all of your stuff. That would mean that the students would have to carry all of their books everywhere on every day of the week. That would be quite a burden so they keep a set of books at home. It's bad enough that they have to carry all of their other stuff everywhere on every day of the week.

To carry all of this stuff, kids are now carrying backpacks to school. Sure, there are a few who get away with other carrying cases and the over the shoulder book bag is getting more popular. However, no matter what the bag looks like, it is still a lot of weight to carry every day. It would be surprising to visit Momence healthcare and see just how many kids have injuries from carrying so much or injuries related to being off balance due to the weight.

One of the other things that has changed is the level of competition both mentally and physically. The number of students applying to get into Ivy League schools is rising and the competition is fierce. Speaking of stress, what about playing ball or another sport in high school. It's amazing how much pressure is put on these kids. It used to be competitive but not like it is today. Again, if you were to visit a facility such as Monee healthcare it would be alarming how many injuries due to sports and stress our young kids have.

This is not to say that kids haven't always had some level of pressure to excel in school or on the field. It also is impossible to go back to the good old days so this isn't an article about the diminishing values as today's kids are brighter and the level of sports is amazing. It's more about trying to pay attention to some of the risks involved in being a kid. Now that those days are gone the next article may be about trying to avoid having to be in a cardiac rehabilitation program from all of the stress of being a grown up.

If you or a family member does have stress related injuries due to being a kid the Momence healthcare facility in the Riverside Healthcare organization is a wonderful place to visit. If you are closer to the Monee healthcare facility, it too is an excellent facility. For those who need to check into a cardiac rehabilitation program check out Riverside Medical Center to locate the best facility near your home.
