Once you decide that you want to set up a blog, the next question is "What should your blog be about?" The making money niche is extremely competitive and if you are just getting started in your home business it will be hard for you to break in to this niche. It will be much easier for you to start making money with your area of interest. This is how to do it.
The first step is to start by making a list of the things you are passionate about or your areas of knowledge. The reason you want to make a list is because you will find that your first choice may not be the most profitable.
The next step is market research. This is not as difficult as it sounds. This is especially easy online.
When doing market research online you want to look at two things: Demand and Competition.
To find research demand for your topic, you can use a free tool called the Google Adwords Keyword Tool.
Enter your first word or phrase that describes your interest into the search. This will pull up a list of relevant words or phrases that may more accurately describe your interest.
Next, pick the words or phrases with a global monthly search volume between 2,000 and 100,000. If it is less than 2,000 then there is not enough interest in your topic, and if it is more than 100,000, then it is probably way too much competition for someone just getting started.
To research your competition, you can type your chosen word or phrase into the Google search and analyze the websites that come up on the first page.
