To define the difference between Lawn Care and landscaping, you must look into what each one entails. Lawn care is completely vegetative, while landscaping includes inclines, drainage, rocks, lights, plants, trees and bodies of water. Lawn care and landscaping are certainly related, but it require different types of skills to be proficient at both, including a knowledge of engineering and of biology.
Both lawn care and landscaping can cause either happiness or grief, and sometimes both at almost the same time. Bad weather or hungry rabbits or deer can destroy months of work overnight, or the end result of a project may turn out much different that you had planned. There can also be unspoken battles with friends and neighbors about your plans, and most of the time they never offer any positive input or help.
The Effects of Seasons and Local Conditions on Lawn Care and Landscaping
Some serious issues can arise for you if you live at high altitudes in the mountains, by the ocean in the path of hurricanes, if neighbors of yours seem to be breeding bugs in all of their mulch, or if there are extremes of heat and cold in your area. You must also ask yourself what the average rainfall is for the area so you can plan your irrigation. You'll need to look into local regulations on pesticide use and run-off. Will you have time to deal with all of these issues while still having time to weed and upkeep your lawn?
Since the expanse of suburbs this past century, there are numerous lawn care agencies and contractors to make your yard look plush and professionally cared for. Residents often times have the desire for a nice lawn, but not the time to deal with all of the issues involved. It seems that the simplicity of lawn care is no longer there if you want your lawn to look as nice as your neighbor's lawn.
How Lifestyles Affect Lawn Care and Landscaping
You will need ask yourself how your lawn will be used before you decide how to care for it. Is it just to look at, without spending much time in it with kids or pets? If so, and you live there full time, it should be rather easy to care for yourself. If, on the other hand, you will be using your lawn often for social gatherings, or if you are using the house for a vacation house and don't want to spend all of your time there doing lawn maintenance, it is a good idea to hire a reliable contractor to do the work for you. It is a relief while on vacation to pull up to a nice looking yard where there is nothing left for you to do but enjoy it.
