We've all done it right? We've had a leaky pen in our shirt pocket or we got carried away with a black marker and the end result is we have that stuff on our clothes and our skin. The good news is that a magic marker or ink stain does not mean your favorite shirt, or dress or pair of pants is ruined. There's a way to get rid of those unsightly marks without expensive dry cleaning bills and it involves an inexpensive product that I'll bet you would have never thought about.
Now I'm not paid to promote this product. You won't see me on a billboard holding it up with "Amazing Results" in bold letters splashed across the top. I'm simply saying of all the other brands I tried this one worked best. The product? Why it's Purell Hand Sanitizer. That's right, a hand sanitizer that also gets out stains.
Now if you have this ink or worse, magic marker, on your skin, you simply pour a little Purell on it and gently start rubbing. It may take a couple of applications but the marker and the ink will disappear like magic from your hands, or wherever the marks are (who hasn't occasionally gotten one on their forehead when they went to adjust their glasses with a marker in their hand).
For that favorite piece of clothing that appears to be ruined try this. Apply a little Purell to a clean white cloth. Test the fabric to make sure the sanitizer won't stain or mark the clothing by dabbing a little on an inconspicuous place like the inside of a sleeve or behind a button. If there are no adverse effects from that test, then use the same dabbing motion directly on the stain. You should see the ink transfer from the garment to the white cloth. Make sure you don't rub the Purcell in, just gently dab it on.
Once the stain is removed, soak the garment in tepid water for about a half hour. Gently squeeze out the excess water and then air dry the garment but not in direct sunlight.
Presto, garment saved and so was the price of a dry cleaner. So the next time you find yourself with a Magic Marker in your hand, be fearless, mark away with abandon knowing that if you slip up it's not the end of the world you can get rid of your ink stain easily.
