There have been many things, which directly or indirectly have influenced the results of the Civil War. But there is no way that Civil War Buttons could possibly play any role in deciding the outcome of the Civil War! Or, so you thought! Well, you never know, because considering the fact so many trivial things played up some kind of role in the outcome of the Civil War, Civil War Buttons could just be one amongst them.
Fortunately, you could heave a high of relief knowing that these buttons definitely did not play any role at all in the outcome of the Civil War.
- With that rumor being put to rest, we could now look at the types of Civil War Buttons worn by soldiers and people in the Civil War Days
- Union Buttons and Confederate Buttons
Obviously, the first classification comes by the way of Union buttons and Confederate Buttons. In essence, both of them looked pretty much the same, as buttons ought to do, but in terms of design of the buttons themselves, these buttons were slightly different. And trust it is very difficult to say, which one of them is the classier one, but the Confederate buttons definitely looked the more rugged lot of both.
Auctioning of the Civil War Buttons
Most of these buttons, whether Confederate or Union buttons were excavated, and later, were discovered by many treasure hunters during their expeditions. It must be said that the treasure hunters who stumbled upon these Civil War Buttons have absolutely made a killing out of them, by auctioning them off at prices never heard of.
It would be quite unfair in asking which one of the buttons sold faster. One thing is for sure though – Both these buttons have been in heavy demand, especially by historians who wish to study the subject even further. One look at the auction sites on the Internet and you would find out this fact is true.
It does not matter if the buttons used on the shirts soldiers wore those days played some part in the war or not. One thing is for sure – These were, courtesy the shirts soldiers wore, a central part of all the action. If you had to ask any of the buttons, and if had life in it, it would cry testimonials galore on the bloody nature of the war. Something which none of us have seen or heard live!
