Civil War Uniforms

by Fred Mangeon

posted in Arts and Entertainment : Humanities

Here is your chance to soak yourself in a bit of history, at least on the count of the clothes you may wear! Even if you don’t wear Civil War Uniforms, you would get enough opportunities to put them up as a memorabilia. And just so you know, the Civil War Uniforms could be identified as the best way to categorize soldiers from different states.

In some places, you would note Civil War Uniforms were being stitched by individuals, and in some other states, these uniforms being sponsored by states and wealthy individuals. All of this made a classic amalgamation of uniforms from across the world. We are living in a world, which cannot be termed peaceful by any yardstick, but definitely does not have a huge collection of civil wars going around at different places.

Civil War Uniforms you would find are further divided into Union Uniforms and Confederate Uniforms. In essence, both are Civil War Uniforms, but were seemingly being worn by soldiers of different ranks. One look at the uniforms and you would be easily able to identify how they were different from others.

So, what makes up Civil War Uniforms? You may not be able to find any of them on parade today, as the armed forces have gone stylish and sleek with their dress sense, and thus to find these uniforms, you may have to go to a museum or visit some websites that have photographs of these uniforms.

But just to give you a brief idea, you would find these uniforms having Sack Coats, Frock Coats, Shell Jackets, Overcoats, and Trousers. In some parts of the world, Trousers used to be replaced by frocks. It may sound a bit silly as on date with all the style changes, but you would find them to have been really effective when they were worn in their times.

Visit parts of Scotland and Ireland, and you would still be able to catch these Civil War Uniforms in full action. One of the most popular set of Civil War Uniforms is the one that the US Army wore during the civil war in the 19th century. These uniforms have been in a lot of need by visitors who wished to see some exquisite uniforms.

Civil War Uniforms thus are not something you would find aplenty, either on the physical world or on the World Wide Web. Try and hunt around for some sites on the Internet, and you would be able to find some.
