Of course the criminals need to be caught before they can be charged. This is why people need to make sure that they know what to look for and how to spot an identity thief. Make sure that you are not doing careless things that could cost you a ton of money if put into the wrong hands. Don’t leave bank receipts at ATMs after taking out money and never throw out personal documents from the mail without shredding them first.
The punishment for identity theft is only going to continue to get stricter because people are starting to realize just how serious a crime this really is.
