Unlike eb4, eb5 visas only require immigrants to invest money into the United States, which is why it is the investment visa. On the other hand, the eb4 kind is directed toward a special category. It is meant for special immigrants, which includes religious workers like nuns, monks, ministers, and more. If you are a minister, then to qualify, you must be authorized by other religious officials to conduct services relevant to the religion.
You may also use the eb4 visa if you are not a minister, but are somehow involved with your religion in another way. However, religious officials in the U.S. must request that you come teach or talk to their organization, and in most cases you must have a college degree. This is because that is typically required to teach religion, but the degree can be from a college outside the U.S.
Eb4, eb5, and other types of visas often have a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to the rules. They also have some flexibility, and the eb4 visa is no different. You do not have to be a minister or even a teacher to use this visa to get to the United States. You can be a cantor, missionary, or have some other religious vocation. In general, as long there is a legitimate reason for you to be in the United States, and you can do some good for citizens, you will likely be able to get into the country. In all cases, you have to have been in your religion for at least two years before you apply, performing this same job.
If you are interested in coming to the U.S. and teaching your religion, presiding over services, or just inspiring others, you can do so with the eb4 visa. However, you must have a purpose and a real vocation or occupation within the religion. Unlike eb4, eb5 requires a lot of money and a business plan. If you do not have either, but instead are involved heavily with your church for at least two years, you may consider contacting organizations within the U.S. that might be interested in your services. Some support and proof of your occupation will greatly increase your chances of qualifying for eb4.
