Prefabricated Steel Buildings - A Progressive Overview

From the last two three decades use of prefabricated steel buildings in construction industry has seen phenomenal growth. Although for commercial and industrial sectors steel buildings have been in use for a long time, but in recent years their rapidly increasing popularities all over the world.

Prefabricated steel buildings can be anything from simple commercial building for your warehouse, school, retail, church, storage to complex steel framed office buildings. The advantage of prefabricated steel buildings is that its cost less, decreasing labor costs, durable, easy and fast to build than other types of buildings for a number of reasons.

Modern prefabrication of buildings began first when the Industrial Revolution brought about the production of Iron in large scale. In 1851 the Crystal Palace of London England was the first entirely prefabricated building constructed from wrought-iron and glass structure.

Although prefabricated construction was further developed by some personals, but it came into popularity during the World War II when there was a large accommodation shortage for military personnel as well as for those made homeless by the War. to accommodate them US first used prefabricated buildings which were fully made up at the factory and then transported and assembled on site. Many of these buildings were designed with life span of 5-10 year, but some of them are surviving today.

The term prefabricated metal building was first introduced In the 1960s, and it referred to the new generation of steel buildings. The technology boom continued in the 60s with the advent of the first computer designed steel buildings. Through Computerization the total costs for prefabricated steel buildings can more easily and accurately predicted than conventional buildings.

The biggest advantage of prefabricated steel buildings are its availability along with all chosen components, and ready to be assembled. Prefabricated steel buildings are all pre punched, pre drilled, and pre welded at the factory prior to shipment to the construction site.
