Fail To Plan Equals Plan To Fail by Ola Olabimpe

Believe it or not It is very true.I keep saying we should have a plan B and C where necessary. But how many of us truly plan not to mention having alternative plans? We have goals that we intend to achieve at every stage of our life. We meet situation we have not expected, we find ourselves in place we never thought we would be. All we need do is to have a plan with contingencies in mind. You might be dazed abit but you would be in charge as long as you plan ahead. Let learn from this fact of life from Zig Ziglar- “When things don't go exactly as planned, remember there's no such thing as perfect. What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals”.

Just because you found yourself at the top of a cliff doesn’t mean you should jump down (even if you had wings). You need to know how you got there and what you can gain for being there, then plan how to flee from there. You might need to fly, climb down or be able to find other options. But if you don’t analyze the situation, know your SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats), evaluate you’re your plan and consider alternative. You have chosen to crash land or remain up the cliff. Life is about taking risk but, it is wise to take a calculated risk. We should always give our goals a deep thought and plan towards achieving it. Like I mentioned in my previous article “all your dreams can come true” if we are willing to plan and put in the effort it requires.

Taking charge means being responsive, responsible, focus and persistent. You have to be self controlled that is disciplined. "The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail." Napoleon Hill.

Don’t fall for the notion that the issue, situation or venture at hand is little and there for needs no plan. Take for instance your day; when you plan your day to happen in a particular way or to reach a goal. It is most likely to happen that way or at least get close to reaching you set goals for the day. Most of us see strategic planning as something you should do for big or serious issues, which is very wrong. Its is also necessary for the little decisions we make. It is even worse to fail at small things, because then you have people tagging you as unreliable or incapable to handle the big things. It’s not good for you self esteem either, so, be smart at your next move. "Indecision and delays are the parents of failure." George Canning

Doing the right thing at the right time is very important to becoming successful. You would find temptations and discouragement in your attempting to reach your goals. You have to be strong and wise in the face of such distractions.Assuming you like me who tend to empty my purse in the store, when I go shopping. All you need to do is make a list of the “must” buy, “may be” buy and extra amount. Calculate or allocate how much you should spend in total and take just that. When you are on a budget and you keep to it, you would amazed at how much could save each day. Also avoid carrying too much cash with you if, you can’t control your spending (but hold you can card as last result).

This same trick works, when you are caught up between work-life stresses. Make a list of the things you must do, those you can afford to away with (delegating or avoid) and those you can do later. Prioritize you task and plan your time; do only those things that will make you grow physically, spiritually, mentally, socially and financially. “Maturity is achieved when a person postpones immediate pleasures for long-term values.” - Joshua L. Liebman

Draw up a list of few people that you see has a role models or a success. Learn about them and compare. They are not likely to have used the same means or style to achieve there goals. But, you would find out that they had these things in common: They didnt make it “overnight”. they had their falls, they took advantage of where they found themselves, they believe in themselves and had a plan. “Seek out that particular mental attribute which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along with which comes the inner voice which says, "This is the real me," and when you have found that attitude, follow it. - William James .Then plan your goal around the “real you” and the “who” you want to be. "My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment." - Oprah Winfrey
