When you print your designs, whether they are of pictures, texts or a combination of both, surely you would want your precious canvas prints to last as long as you need it or as long as you want to.

After all, canvas prints are most ideal for photo reproductions and artworks that you can use to adorn rooms and brighten homes. Canvas prints are perfect for photo enlargements, group pictures, portraits and art replicas.

Canvas prints owes its charm to its material. It gives your prints a distinct texture which is unlike other print materials, paper or otherwise. Since the material is canvas print or artist canvas, you can stretch it and mount it easily. You can use it indoors or outdoors.

What Makes Your Canvas Prints Resilient Canvas prints are ideally printed using UV-protected archival inks, through this your prints acquire color fastness and longevity. This makes your prints vibrant, clear and crisp for a long time.

Color Fastness Color fastness is the resistance of your prints or print designs from fading. It retains it colors because of the ink used. UV-protection means that the inks buffers the harmful effect of UV light that can make your prints lose its colors in no time at all.

There are

Longevity

Archival inks are usually pigment-based inks that are designed to last for a long time. This means that the colors or your canvas prints are printed with inks that can stand the test of time. However, this is provided that the best techniques, process and conditions are used and met.

Even with today’s technology, there are limitations too on how long these prints can last. Preserving prints on paper have been insured to last a hundred years, artist canvas is a different matter entirely. Yet, this is not to say that your prints will wither or fade automatically.

How to Preserve Your Canvas Prints

By observing certain precautions, you can maintain the quality of your canvas prints, so you can enjoy them longer. Here a few tips you might want to practice:

1. Avoid getting your prints wet. Canvas prints or artist canvas are water-resistant. This, however, is not the same thing as water-proof.

Water-resistant canvas prints can only do so much to repel water. Water can easily glide off from your canvas prints, but this does not mean, water won’t be absorbed by the material.

2. Do not place in direct sunlight. If you truly want your canvas prints to last a very, very long time, do not place it in direct or intense sunlight. Even if it can be used for outdoors, this can still age your canvas. If is left long enough outdoors, within a few years, it will undeniably fade even with its coating or armor of protection.

3. Avoid using materials with acids. Make sure that the backing or frame you used for stretching your canvas is acid-free. Acid can make your canvas prints yellow in time and destroy your prints in the process.

4. Carefully brush off or remove dust, hairs and other unwanted particles with a clean, soft bristle brush or lint remover to avoid build up that may dull your prints.

Observe these precautions for your canvas prints. Enjoy color fastness and longevity and enjoy them for a longer period of time.
