Save Time and Money By Working Smarter Not Harder

by Tricia Lake

You've heard the saying about using the right tools for the right job, but are you doing this in your Internet marketing business? Think about it for a minute or two. How are you going about promoting goods and services online? Are you spending hours putting together websites and not working on copy because of it? Perhaps you are not using the right tool for the job.

Anyone will tell you that in order to be efficient and work on the things that matter, you need leverage. When leveraging time that means delegating tasks wherever you can. You may think that is hard to do when you are working alone, or with one or two people trying to build an Internet marketing concern. After all, your tools are your computer and Internet connection. They are all you need, and you can muddle through the rest. There's more to it than that, though.

In manufacturing one of the ways to save money is to save time. Time is money in a real sense, because all the time a product is on the line, and not in a customer's hands, costs the company money. Wherever possible they try to take time out of the process, and hence the automation we see today. It's no different with an Internet marketing business.

Take a pen and paper now and write down the areas where you spend the most of your time. Let me get you started with some ideas:

Researching new products and niches Writing Articles or Ad copy Looking at those statistics (again!) Building Websites

After you have the list of all of your activities, put a rough time next to them and it will give you an idea of where you are actually spending your time. If you don't know how long it is taking you then time it and find out. If you are in business for yourself you need to know this. It's essential that you spend your time on the jobs that will get you results and find a way of reducing the time on everything else.

If you are spending hours and hours building websites, for example, find a better website builder to help in the process. It may cost you a bit of money to do so, buy there is a way you can decide if it's worth it for you to do so:

Give yourself a cost per hour (perhaps it's what you want to earn Internet marketing) and then times it by the hours spent on building the website. I bet it's costing you in returns more than your could imagine when you look at it in this light. Do this with all the other activities as well. When you do this you'll have a better idea of where to concentrate your efforts and what it's really costing you.

Make the decision to be an efficient Internet marketer as well as a good one. It will save you time and money, and your business can only benefit from it.
