Various Woods for Various Cabinets

If there had to be one thing in the kitchen which tied the room together, it would be the cabinet area. Cabinets add character and flair to kitchens, which is a big reason why everything is initially built around them, especially in the bathroom area. Cabinet hardware is available in a myriad of various materials, but the most common one is wood. But then again, there are many, many different types of wood and so picking the right one can become somewhat a hassle. I'll present you with three mainstream types of wood so as to give some direction in your quest for the right wood.
Cherry hardwood is the first type I'd like to discuss. Many people favor this material for their kitchens, not only because of it's dark hue which allows it to blend with pretty much any kitchen, but because out of all the woods, this is one of the sturdiest and longest-lasting ones, making it an elegant as well as practical choice. However, if having a darker kitchen does not go hand-in-hand with your wants and needs, then perhaps you should consider some other options.
For example, Cedar is another popular type of wood used in the construction of cabinetry, and especially closets. Cedar offers a marvelous contrast of color schemes, with mixes of light and dark brown. This type of wood also emits a very desirable smell, which can unfortunately vanish when coating is applied. The only con when it comes to Cedar is it's durability, which is inferior to many types of woods out there.
Finally, if you're looking for something a bit sturdier yet classy, you should definitely look into oak. Even though it's looks are no match for some more exquisite woods, it's one of the sturdiest and most durable types of wood available. It has stood the test of time over and over again, however you will be paying in style of such resilience since oak usually only comes in a plain light color.
