Executive Coaching or Not? by Ethan Khatri

Recent events in corporate world, technology, and organizational dynamics, combined with changes in workplace demographics and individual goals, have contributed to challenges for both organizations and individuals. But there is one area for which there is a consensus among the educated individuals: people are the most precious strength within a corporation. The determinant of an organizations success is borne from the individual commitment, capability and motivation of employees, combined with opportunity and effective leadership--interfaced with technological innovation.

With this in mind and at the forefront of new business, a growing number of companies have turned their eyes to executive coaching support, seeking coaching who can bring the extra pound of value to the companies every growing demand for success. Enabling the company managers and executives to meet the multitude of challenges that face then in day to day business, has now even turned the usually stereotyped cold shareholders, to impulse puppet boards to employ the skills of a sharp leadership coach.

As a result of the changing tastes of the business market, the executive coaching industry has, for lack of a better word Exploded. Jeffrey E. Auerbach, carried out a survey back in 2005 where 101 organizations that utilize coaching and 610 external and internal coaches in North and South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The survey participants completed a 40-minute online survey. The results are impressive. The utilization of executive coaching has sharply increased in the past five years with no sign of slowing. However, there is a great divergence in the field as to the use of techniques, as well as a great variety of educational level, training and experience in those who identify themselves as executive coaches.

At any level of commitment the company that is being employed to carry out a task should be well researched. There are plenty of bodies out there which provide accreditations for coaches and a company in search of a coach should seek out people that fit the criteria:
