In the present way of life, the only thing most of us lack is peace of mind. We might be in possession of all materialistic pleasures but when it comes to being in harmony with one's mental plane, we often fail. The reason for this lack of tranquility is our inability to concentrate and be focussed. The availability of innumerable options around us for every little thing concerning our lives has caused us to be more indecisive, fickle and disturbed. Meditation is the ancient technique of keeping one's mind in peace and increasing attention to details. This helps us absorb our surroundings better and make correct decisions without getting disoriented.

 

 

It is not as complex a science as many fear it to be. Meditation can be done by anyone who has the will to change their lives for the better. Many have done that and suggest others to adopt this useful tool for their benefit. For anyone starting meditation without any prior knowledge of it, it is advised to be aware of certain guidelines to eliminate common errors.

 

 

The basic purpose of meditation is to free the mind of insignificant worries and sea of information and make it clear in thoughts and feelings. To achieve that, beginners are advised to start at a place that is quiet and ensure no disturbances for some time to come. Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing that helps your relax. Beginners are suggested to not lie down while meditating because lack of practice may cause you to fall asleep. A sitting position with straight back is considered best to meditate. Eyes should be closed and in case you cannot keep your mind off recurring thoughts, counting in the head can help. Make sure to slow down the rate of breathing and relax the body as much as you can.
