"Cute" is the word that comes to mind, while first looking at Nokia 2220 slide mobile handset. But Nokia has not compromised on the features as well and have given a handset at a very affordable price. It is a phone of the masses and targeted for them, as it has simple features and good stylish looks. It is expected to hit the market in the last quarter of 2010.
The features included are it has a TFT screen of about 1.8 inches and is capable of displaying an amazing 65 K colors. The size of the screen is 120 X 160 pixels and has ring alert and vibration facilities. There is a VGA camera, giving out images, though it cannot be said that it is of the highest quality.
Since it comes under the category of slider phones, the camera can be activated only by opening the slider in the upwards direction. It supports MP3 and polyphonic ringtones, with the addition of FM radio too. The stereo speakers along with 3.5 mm audio jack produce a high quality of sound. Apart from these, it supports all major video and audio files and is compatible with all available file formats.
The entertainment does not end there. There is a myriad of games to play with. There are two forms of connectivity such as GPRS and EDGE of class 10 and a WAP 2.0 browser. The internal memory of this handset is 32 MB but if need be, it can be enhanced up to 2 GB, with the help of micro SD card.
Nokia 2220 slide can store up to 1000 contact numbers in the phonebook and the other additional features that need mentioning are, the quick currency convertor and calculator. Nokia Life Tools support and OVI mail enable easy access to web mail and free mails. It is claimed that Nokia 2220 slide can hold up to 20 dialed calls, 20 missed calls and 20 received calls in the inbox.
The dimensions of Nokia 2220 slide are 97 X 47 mm in width and 15 mm in thickness. The popularity among the masses for this Nokia set is also due to its availability in various range of attractive colors like pink, blue, grey, graphite, silver, purple and turquoise. It has a lithium ion battery of 800mAh and has a very good battery back up. The stand by time is about 480 hours and the talk time 5 hours and 20 minutes.
The absence of Bluetooth connectivity is a major drawback for Nokia 2220 slide, as it handicaps a person from getting songs into the phone. Nokia 2220 slide is a light weight-about 93.5 grams when the battery is fitted – with many fundamental features, coming in attractive colors at a rock bottom price; it is the phone of the masses. If Bluetooth and USB port would have been added, it would have alleviated the crippling of more connectivity, but you cannot expect all the best things in one handful. Can you?
