Goodbye Movie Rentals by Vicky Dangi

I love watching movies. Not just new releases but also old classics. And the type of movie I would like to watch (comedy, drama, fiction etc) depends on my mood and keeps changing with it. Initially, I used to rent DVDs from the DVD rental library near my house. But it was somehow frustrating as most of the time the film I was looking for was not available, or the DVD was already given out to another member.

And by the time that DVD would arrive the next day, my mood had already changed and I wanted to watch something else! Even after paying exorbitant membership fees, I was still not happy. A lot of times the DVD would have some scratches or other defects as it is being passed through so many people.

To add to all this, there were time limits. I had to ensure I am there before the store closes and that I return the DVD the very next day to avoid late charges. That meant shuffling my entire schedule according to the rental library timings.

At that time the concept of movie downloads had not yet emerged. Downloading movies online is a concept that has taken birth recently as is in its infancy, though it is catching up real fast. If you go to see, there are lots of sites available for music downloads. But when it comes to downloading movies, that too DVD quality movies, there are very few sites catering to it. When I heard about movie downloads online, I was so excited that I immediately logged on the net to check it out.

That is when I realized the sites offering movie downloads are quite limited. However, they are mushrooming fast as the demand is really high. But still, I had to choose the best out of the available ones.

I was very clear in my head as to what features I wanted, or rather, the ones I did not want. Thanks to my DVD rental experience. I definitely was looking for

- A large collection to choose from
- Fast download speed
- No time limits. Facility to download anytime, anyday from anywhere
- The quality of the movie should be as good as the DVD
- Reliable site, so that I am saved from all the viruses and spyware
- Software that would also allow me to download the movies to my Ipod apart from giving me the options to watch it either on my computer, home theater or MP3 .
- Unlimited downloading facility

After much research, I found a few good sites online. These site allows me access to more than 80 million DVD quality movies of all genre! It has various options of membership to choose from. Moreover its membership is time based. So, if I become a member for a year, I can download any number of movies during that period. Its fast, its easy and its convenient!

And yes, It offers software to burn it on a CD, or download it on my iPod. And in case of any help, there is a 24*7 customer support available... What more could I ask for....

Goodbye to DVD rentals!
