Kitting and assembly is applied whenever a package of several components is put together. Kits of operational and tactical equipment are often assembled together for the military and law enforcement uses. Escalation of Force (EOF) kits, for example, are put together in a warehouse through kitting and assembly before being shipped to troops locally or overseas.
EOF kits are assembled as a US rule of engagement in an effort to avoid unnecessary casualties of civilians and the military. Insurgent suicide attacks are always a looming threat, particularly at traffic control points. Each kit of tactical and operational equipment is needed to carry out these rules of engagement pertaining to the Escalation of Force in order to protect soldiers exposed at check points or in vehicles.
Kitting and assembly puts together several pieces of operational and tactical equipment for Traffic Control Point EOF kits. Military police overseas are given assignments at traffic control points, with the goal of orderly movement of traffic. Traffic control plans specify that no unnecessary delays are to occur and the minimum essential control methods are to be used.
Equipment used at any such check point comes from an EOF kit. Kitting and assembly done by a distribution company allows for three types of traffic control kits, although all have basic components added. Any traffic control EOF kit has a voice translation device, such as a hands-free voice response translator, speed bumps, traffic cones with power flares, an LED traffic cone system, spike strips, a remote area lighting system, and several tactical cases and bags for transporting equipment.
EOF kits are also assembled for convoy kits, which are designed for soldiers exposed in vehicles. Kitting and assembly for a convoy EOF kit combines several pieces of tactical and operational equipment. A general convoy EOF kit contains a combination of crew served and individual weapon green laser kits, a speaker and siren combination device, a spotlight, a scout light kit, a heavy gun weapon light, and various tactical cases and bags.
