What Can I Eat When I Do A Colon Cleanse? by George Christodoulou

Many people go into a colon cleanse with at least a little bit of apprehension. While most people know that it is important to keep the colon clean, especially if we are to avoid disease, they still feel a little bit nervous about what is going to happen. Not only can there be apprehension for those that are going through a colon cleanse for the first time but it also may happen to those of us who have gone through them quite often. One of the most common questions that I have heard is what can I eat when I do a colon cleanse? Unfortunately that question does not have a simple answer because it really depends on what type of colon cleanse you are doing. Let's examine a couple of the more mainstream colon cleanse systems together.

The first one, and one of my favorites, is where you do things all naturally and organically. The reason that I enjoy this colonic so much is because I know exactly what is going into my body. Many times if you buy a colon cleansing product you are taking for granted that they are going to be giving you only the best product. If you choose the product for yourself then you will have no doubt in your mind what you're taking. On this type of a colon cleanse you may be restricted to just the cleansing materials. These could include such things as different types of herbs and vegetables and clay. While you may be able to eat some other things while you are doing this type of colon cleanse it really depends on which plan you are following. Some of the master cleanses give you little more than liquid to drink while you are doing the cleanse. This isn't as difficult as what it sounds, however, and you will rarely feel hungry.

If you purchase a colon cleanse product they will give you instructions as to what you can and cannot eat. Many times they will not restrict you from eating anything, however it would be a good idea not to eat things that would be damaging to your colon. Some of the things that you may want to avoid would be dairy products, meat, and anything else that would be difficult to digest. It would be counterproductive for you to eat such things while you are trying to clean up out of your system at the same time.

If you are going to go for a colonic then you may not be restricted from what you can eat at all. It might be a good idea, however, to fast for at least 12 hours before you go for the colonic. You should consult with a person that is administering the colonic to see if they have a preference. They will be able to instruct you on any dietary preferences that they may have.

You might find that it is more about what you eat after your colon cleanse is finished and what you eat during the colon cleanse period. By watching your diet and eating plenty of fiber you will sure that your colon will stay clean for a longer period of time.
