Adware and Spyware - Detecting Spyware In Your Computer

Malicious software has become a problem for computer and Internet users. 850,000 people have replaced their computer because of spyware attacks and damages caused by this threat are estimated $1.7 billion.

In order to prevent this from happening, you must know how you can detect and remove this type of threat. Spyware is software used by the hackers to send your private and confidential information to them so they can use it or sell it to the advertisers. If you don’t know how to remove it, you’re risking your own private information.

68% of Internet users nowadays keep their sensitive and private information in their computer and imagine what will happen if the hackers get this information. In order to protect yourself, there are six steps that you should do.

1. What you need are anti-spyware software, a real-time protection and a firewall. Anti-spyware software are dedicated software created to fight this type of threat. Other than that, it can also detect other threats such as adware, keyloggers and trojans.

The software that I recommend are Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot Search & Destroy, and SUPERAntiSpyware. For real-time protection software, I recommend Windows Defender and Spyware Terminator.

Comodo Firewall Pro and ZoneAlarm are firewall software that I also recommend.

2. After downloading the software above, the first thing that you need to do is to update all the software. This step is important because the software will be able to detect newer threats after it received new updates.

3. Then, start running the software one by one and scan your system for any types of infection. If this is the first time you have protection software in your system, I think you will have many infections that will be detected by the software.

4. Remove all the threats found and run the Spyware Terminator and the firewall. This way, you will have a real-time protection and you can prevent the spyware from sending any of your information to the hackers.

5. After that, download SmitFraudFix and run it in safe mode. Usually, all the abnormal activities that cannot be detected or removed by the protection software will ceased the instant you run the SmitFraudFix.

6. Install McAffe Site Advisor so you can avoid visiting malicious and phishing websites. This way, you will have optimum protection for your computer against malicious threats.
