Wondering how to stop dog barking when left alone? Today, in this article I am going to give you some tips on how dog's barking habits can be reduced considerably when he is left alone, however, before we begin you need to understand the reason why dogs bark when left alone.

The reason for dogs barking when left alone is pretty simple, because the dogs just don't want to be left alone and are bored. All terriers, and many small dogs, particularly Lhasa Apsos, Poodles and Schnauzers are known to be genetically prone barkers. No matter what is the breed of your dog with proper training program this problem can be dramatically reduced.

Here are a few tips on how to stop dog barking when left alone -:

- Keep the dog in the quietest part of the house.

- Keep curtains or shades drawn. A darker environment has a calming effect on most dogs.

- As you leave, give the dog an "only-when-I'm-gone" chew toy. This toy should be something spectacular -- a sterilized beef bone stuffed deeply with canned dog food or cheese spread or a Kong toy stuffed with something tasty. Give it to the dog upon leaving; rub it between your palms several times before you go. Not only is this a diversion ploy, it in reality makes being left alone not so bad, as this is the only time the "most-wonderful-thing-in-the-world" appears! But, remember to take this toy away from him once you are back. If your dog always has this toy this would no longer remain special to him.

As you can see here stopping dog barking when left alone can be a frustrating issue to deal with, especially when you have got neighbors complaining about your dog's behavior. When trying to learn how to stop dog barking when left alone, a good dog training course can be very useful. You will want to look for the one that includes a free consultation with an experienced dog trainer.
