It can be very difficult to house train a dog if you are not careful.

Little dogs are not difficult to train and it takes only some diligence to house train a small dog. Here are a couple tips that I hope will help you if this is what you are doing.

If small dogs don't eat anything, they don't use the bathroom. I'm not implying not to feed your dog. The opposite is that when they don't eat, they don't go to the bathroom.

Make a time to feed your dog. They need to eat two times a day. After thirty minutes, let them go outside for a walk.

A schedule to let them eat is very crucial. If you do this, their body will get used to it and then they will be ready to go when you take him for a walk.

You have to make sure he isn't urinating inside while you train him. To do this, you could just not give him water.

I'm not serious. That would be mean. Little puppies need to go out every 3 to 4 hours. When they get older they can hold their urine easier.

As he grows, you can take him out only every 5 hours. After some time, he will be able to work around your work times and not pee inside while you are away.

Even though you have some pointers, we know that he may still accidentally pee inside while you are training him.

With small dogs, you have to see them peeing to get them in trouble.

If you are at work all day and come home to pee by the back door, don't discipline them our get their nose in it.

You can't be sure of when they peed, and if it was hours ago they probably don't remember doing it.

So, they won't know why they are being disciplined. When this happens, clean up the urine and keep taking them out when they are used to being taken out.
