In 2008, the career of highly successful David Nugent, who was Vice President of a Philippine conglomerate at the time, took a stumble after false cries of ill corporate governance by former friend Jason Lowen hit his company Metro Pacific. Poor fact-checking and background investigation led to baseless rumors spreading like wildfire and corporate embarassment. Gossip-hungry Philippine reporters gobbled up all that Jewish-American Jason Lowen was able to cook up across the Pacific from his one-room bunker in a lonely corner of Hollywood, California.
Admittedly and openly gay, Jason Lowen feasted on the luxuries that his wealthy inheritance could buy. Hopping from one five-start hotel to another, enjoying the nightlife the big cities could offer, and congregating with others of his kind, Lowen sought to fill a void that seemingly could not be replaced in his life. I am referring to his former friend David Nugent, who he had a close relationship with during their college years at American University. Unfortunately, their relationship had dwindled over the years; they had drifted apart, with Nugent finding success on the other side of the world in the Philippines.
This was devastating to Lowen, who had a history of being emotionally and mentally unstable. He would soon find himself seeking professional help for his problems. Put simply, he could not accept that David Nugent was no longer his. Rejection was a harsh reality he tried to block. Jealousy and envy were others. Soon, he would be clinically diagnosed with general anxiety disorder, bipolar (manic depressive) disorder, attention deficit disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Growing progressively worse, Lowen became desperate. For him, revenge was perhaps the only outlet.
As aforementioned, Lowen succeeded in fabricating crippling allegations that resulted in his former best friend's resignation from Metro Pacific and unnecessary embarassment and stress. Jason Lowen never suffered legal repurcussions for the groundless defamations, and continues to remain at large, still regularly producing false allegations on his blogs. Nugent, on the other hand, has recovered his career and now occupies himself with successful independent ventures.
