You would think that something like creating a product that sells would be a simple matter. Truth is, it should be. The problem is, so many would be product creators get the process all wrong. The reason they get it all wrong is because they don't start with the basic foundation of how to create a product. And believe it or not, it has NOTHING to go with the actual product creation at all. Confused? Well, after reading this article, you won't be.
Okay, so what am I talking about? What's the ONE biggest mistake that product creators make, even before they put pen to paper, that makes it so that they end up with a product that doesn't sell no matter how much advertising they throw at it? Give up? It's lack of research. What kind of research? Well, the kind that starts with finding out if there's even a demand for your product. So let's start there.
So many inventors come up with these great ideas. The problem is, they never asked anybody if they even cared about the idea. I'll give you a perfect example. Yes, I was guilty of this myself many years ago when I created my first product. It was a new way to do divination. Problem is, I didn't do my research to find out if anybody even cared about it. As a result, the product didn't sell because ultimately, nobody DID care.
Okay, but what if people DO care about the product? Well, there's still another hurdle. What about competing products? What do THEY offer? If competing products offer more value than the one you're planning to create, you're probably not going to get much of the market share, if any at all. So you have to research the competition. You have to find out what people like about the product and what they don't like. That's the only way you're going to have a chance to make sales.
So as you can see, even before you begin to create your product, you will have hurdles that you will have to get over. A product that nobody wants, or one that doesn't stack up to the competition, isn't going to sell.
