A most remarkable new ethic is put into play and is gaining extraordinary effectiveness by causing widespread personal release from advocating common decencies of self and society and when violated destroys those who so commit. We have learned from folk with the power to influence society in positive supportive way, specifically elected politicians, that it is far better to distance oneself from mention of ethical breech of common decency of others, thereby exempting oneself from behavioral accountability.
What a remarkable purchase it is to gain so much by departing decency. It is simple to loose ones articulation of what is right or wrong and thereby exempting oneself from that now much maligned catastrophic crime, hypocrisy, that highly fashionable battering ram, a tool so effectively employed by those who make no claim to decency of morality thinking perhaps theirs should stand implicitly.
One hears increasingly from a very liberal leaning press that the GOP representatives are held to higher standards because they emphasize virtue and are consistently expounding the importance of ethical behavior even as they fall short of maintaining such standards themselves.
While it is noble to expect and strive for ideals even when realizing such is not always achievable it is conversely very selfish, immature and indeed evil to avoid doing right for fear of being held accountable. Saddest of all is it to use such indecency for political gain.
Time was when apostles of respecting morality were abundant and of benefit to society in spite of inevitable occasional short fall by all.
