Read The Label

New reports are coming out to show that heat problems can arise for those who drank regular and diet colas. The problem comes when after a high fat, salt and processed foods meal it is all washed down with soda. What’s in your soda that can do your body harm? The answer to this question might surprise you. Saccharin aspartame and other derivatives of sugar alcohol products proclaim to be safe.. We often look at such report as a punch in the eye of popular manufacturers. Recently I have begun to read more and more labels on the products that we buy. Most of this stuff is not fit for human consumption. Since having congestive heart failure I have recognized more hidden words that meet federal guide lines for product ingredient reporting standards of the FDA.

All flour bread and white sugar products play a role in the bulges the hang over our waist lines. Not to mention MSG the greatest flavor enhancer ever invented. It’s hard to believe that your favorite diet cola may slow down your metabolism. It is hard to find and product on the shelf today that does not contain MSG. If you wonder why certain foods taste different, if you have a favorite food chain you are probably addicted to MSG. My idea of correct food consumption is simple. First, if it doesn’t come out of the ground, if its not raised on a farm, or plucked from a tree I refuse to put it into my body. If you were to look at the ingredient panel on a bag of cookies you would be amazed to learn that most of the ingredients were made in a test tube of lab. Major food processors spend large sums of money tweaking the taste of their products. I love potato chips. But I restrict myself to the plain flavors as any other variation contains MSG.

Educate your self on what you are eating. Make better choices and select the best food that will really nourish your body. There are a lot of fast food restaurants out there, look closely and find a slow food restaurant. A low carb food choice would be ideal. Pick foods that will spark your metabolic rate in order to loose weight.

Organic food foods offer the best selection of canned goods. Thoroughly wash any fruit or vegetable that your buy.

Food labels are like chapters in a book. Read each item and become familiar with before you buy or open the can or package. The contents panel shows the nutrients that the food contains. Your body needs the right combination of nutrients, such as vitamins, to work properly and grow. The Nutrition Facts food label is printed somewhere on the outside of packaged food, and you usually don't have to look hard to find it. Fresh food that doesn't come prepackaged sometimes has nutrition facts too. By reading the label you see the serving size, calories, vitamins, minerals fat and sodium amount of each serving. Its also shows that amounts of carbohydrates protein calcium and iron. Once you are informed you can make better decisions.

This is a good web site for more information: http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/label.html
