So you have decided to chuck it all and move into your RV full time. Part of the process is decorating the interior of your new home.
Industrial strength Velcro is the hook and loop fastener that was developed during the moon expeditions of many years ago. Like so many other things that have become commonplace in our everyday lives, velcro was invented to fill a need in space travel.
How to keep stuff in one spot.
Rv travel has a lot of those same requirement. You want to keep your stuff in one spot, preferably the spot you have chosen for the item.
Enter industrial strength velcro.
Not the wimpy stuff found on sewing baskets but the 2 inch wide heavy duty velcro with very sticky adhesive backing. This is easily obtained in the hobby section of your local mega merchandise store. It is available in white or black in four foot strips.
So what do you use it for?
- Hanging pictures on the walls.
- Hanging a clock on the wall.
- Securing a towel rack to the galley counter
- Mounting decorative plates on the wall
- Mounting keeper rails in the bathroom cabinet.
- Securing a CD player on a shelf
These are a few of the places where industrial strength velcro has come to the rescue.
A very good solution to a vexing problem was every time I parked and set up the rv after moving down the road, the bathroom cabinet would rain medications the first time it was opened.
Some quarter inch flat molding was mounted above each shelf with a bit of velcro on each end to the inside of the cabinet. Problem solved.
The uses for this very versatile fastener are endless and varied. Be careful not to mount it where the removal of the adhesive will permanently mar the surface.
