It was 2001 and I had wanted to run my own Sports Camps for a few years. I was one of those hard workers that never gets any compensation. Always volunteering as a coach and working at camps and never seeing a cent. So I decided to take a risk.
I remember very clearly as I sat on the couch in my office. I had this great idea about running a youth camp but I did not even know what to name it. So, as I sat in deep thought, I looked over to a box that once held a VCR. It said on the box that the VCR was READY TO PLAY. So, in a brief moment of brilliance, I thought, "Hey, that would make a great name for my camp!"
That is where it all began for my RTP Vision. In my office looking at an old VCR box. Of course a few years have passed. The look has changed. But not the vision h as not. The Game plan had not changed at all. RTP Sports Camp is still about rewarding hard workers!
After four years of running my own basketball camp under the RTP umbrella, I had people come up to me and ask me to run an event in their community. Of course I wanted to but it was impossible to be in two, or three, or four places at once.
So here comes another crazy idea. Why don't I see if I can get some individuals to run the camp for me in different communities? So I called some buddies I played with in college and they said yes!
And they loved it!
Today, men and woman are using the RTP philosophies to run their own camps. They are making extra income doing something they love. Pretty great huh?
