Employees can be a bane or a boom to companies. For this reason, the management must be careful in making decisions regarding hiring and employment. Unfortunately, the economic downturn is changing the way businesses hire and employ people because of the scarce resources they could offer the new hirelings. The next best thing companies and other business do is to resort to hiring temps or temporary staffers or employees to help out in their offices. Temps usually substitute for clerical jobs. Companies could either hire temps directly or through job agencies, which could be more convenient in the long run. Of course, temps also have the basic job benefits, including the opportunity to get same day payday loans. Other than clerical office jobs such as encoders and bookkeepers, temps can also fill work gaps in the following areas: information technology, banking, automotive and construction industries. Usually, these people have relatively less work experience or some are even fresh graduates. They are usually employed for a few weeks or months, depending on the job requirements of companies and businesses.
Before hiring temps, here are a few pros and cons that could help companies and even small businesses make the best decision if this system could help them be more productive. One of the advantages of hiring temps or subs from an agency is the candidate sifting. This means that when a company gets a temp, all the person’s requirements for employment are already completed and a background check has been done. Another advantage is the less administrative hassle. The payroll is taken cared of by the staffing agency, including requests for payday cash advances by the temps. If the company is unhappy with the job performance of the temp, the staffing agency would also arrange for a more suitable replacement. Speaking of finances, another big advantage is the prevention of regular employee burnout, which could make a significant difference in productivity. Truth to tell, most repetitive or clerical tasks are delegated to temps.
However, there are also some drawbacks to consider when hiring temps, too. One big downside is temps are not expected to “go the second mile” or exert more effort for the company beyond what is required. Company management cannot expect their productivity level to be exceptional, other than acceptable. Another related drawback is the quality of workflow. For example, regular employees might depend too much on the temps to get the jobs done, instead of relying on them for assistance only. Although hiring temps has become a practice in businesses, company management must seriously think over if this is a good move for them.
