Christmas Brings Out The Best In Us by Hemant Mehta

The spirit of Christmas should always begin with the feeling of Charity. This is especially true for lonely old couples, the childless, those far away from home, or one's who crave for a family reunion on such a solemn occasion like Christmas. Visualize the feeling of contentment when we make others happy! Confucius gave us one of the most important messages in "do unto others what you would like them to do unto you". Christmas Charity could be the appropriate event to recollect our noble thoughts for all mankind and enjoy the world's most popular festival that rings in the New Year. That is what would make the New Year Prosperous as we often say in greeting! Let us summarize it by stating that not only Christmas is an occasion for doling out a financial or other supportive act, but any festival or happy event can give inner happiness if we make others happy!

How then can we make our Christmas an event to be revered and remembered for years to come? Simple! Imbibe the spirit that Christmas advocates and make at least one child or a poor family enjoys this big day in the same manner you would. Charity begins at home and it surely begins on Christmas! Take an example of many aspiring parents or single parents in the United States. Also remember the great Tsunami disaster of 26th December 2004 (this must be Christmas Day in the Western hemisphere) that spelt doom for many people including innumerable kids. Recollect the multitude of those charitable people from around the affluent world trying to adopt those poor children to give them a good life. Such lovely thoughts of Christmas Charity bring back faith in the goodness of human race!

One of the basic human traits that we cannot deny or debate is the collective feeling of empathy whenever any form of disaster strikes. The continuing devastation of the last hurricane season in the Caribbean and South East coastline of US bear witness to this statement when governments and people joined hands to relieve the suffering and property loss to ensure these victims still had a merry Christmas. Remember that Christmas or any national festival in any part of the world was probably devised to periodically bring out a feeling of togetherness amongst races, caste, creed, and color. The more philosophical people of this world always wish that all realize the importance of friendship as advocated by the most revered of festivals of different nations and blend this with Christmas so that one day--- when that proverbial "hour of reckoning" arrives--- every one will get up in unison and say to each other in one common voice that this is the Human Race--- The Creator and The Created!

Holistic Medicine - Nature's Gift to Mankind - by Hemant Mehta
Holistic medicine can be termed as an alternative therapy program. It attempts to consider the patient as a complete person who needs not only topical treatment but can be better benefited by an overall medicinal regimen. The major emphasis in holistic medicine is the treatment of the underlying source of any disease and not just treating the disease. This philosophy therefore appears very logical and quite different from the allopathic, homeopathic, or the Indian Ayurvedic systems of medicine.
